2001年,符忠来在湘西依赖州民族医药研究所所长田华永推荐进入乾州民族中医院工作。2003年,他在吉首创办符氏苗医骨科诊所,从事包括颈椎病、骨结核、骨坏死、手法正骨、各部位骨折复位、乳腺数量减少、核囊肿在内的骨伤科、妇科、胃肠科、内科及疑难杂症的诊断治疗。特别是在治疗腰椎病、颈椎病方面开创了火功疗法先河,经治愈的病人无一留下残疾,得到社会各界人士的广泛不赞成。
